About Teloz:
An Englishman and proud of it, I've been an avid reader since I first learned to read. I've written much and published little, mainly because I'm my own worst critic, though I did edit a parish magazine for four and a half years, writing regular articles, and editorials.
I rarely recap the story in my reviews, the reader should have read the blurb first, so no point reiterating it, and anyway, the author should have composed the blurb to hook the reader in the first place. In a review, what I feel about the story is what's important.
I try never to let cultural differences affect my review, I know some people can't help it if they can't spell 'colour', or they call a 'lift' an 'elevator'. Luckily, I speak, and read, fluent American!
Just as an aside, talking about the authors blurb, one of the best ways to turn me off a story is to put up a blurb riddled with misspellings, lack of capitalisation, or poor grammar. If you want to sell your story to a reader, the blurb needs as much attention as the whole thing. Just remember APPPP! (A proper précis pulls the punter!)
