The Naked in School format is pretty popular, and has produced some great stories. I consider Naked in School - Bobby and Kathy to be one of the best, even though the plot includes delving into one of the ugliest sides of the human condition, parental abuse.
I do have a few minor criticisms, the editing is a little sloppy for one, but it doesn't make the story difficult to read. Another one, is that I believe the characters could have been fleshed out a little more, particularly Bobby's father.
I've never suffered abuse, thankfully, nor have I felt the need to be an abuser, even more thankfully! Due to my lack of understanding, I was left wondering why a fit, well built, seventeen year old would submit to such abuse. Can the victim be conditioned into accepting it? I don't know. I do know that talking about abuse, mental, verbal or physical, can help to reduce it, and reduce it we must, it's an ugly and terrible thing. As 'Night Wolf' points out, it can also be insidiously self perpetuating, as the abused become abusers themselves.
Getting back to the story itself, I found it to be pretty well written, and very much emotionally engaging. I would heartily recommend it to anyone who enjoys the NiS format, it's certainly one of the best!
Read it and enjoy!
