On the forum recently there was a discussion of how few sports stories there are on SOL, and most of them are about American football. Well here is a great one about Golf, with a hero more like the rest of SOL readers than the typical teenage athlete. (He is in his 50s.) I liked this story a lot, despite its not quite Do-Over premise. The hero can relive five minutes of his life as often as he wants, and that helps gambling and doing golf shots until he gets one he likes.
Doing the numbers, 8 is an A and 9 is an A plus. I give plot and technical both an A. Its not that long a story, compared to a typical Do-Over, but the Do-Over period is not as long as the typical 20 or 40 years. Perhaps the plot benefits from the sex being with Doctors (female of course) and the multitude of orgasms the hero can deliver if he gets to start over if his loving doesn't work out as well as he wanted.
I am giving an A plus to appeal. Its a funny story but handles the actual golf in an interesting way. Try it, I am pretty sure you will like it, and it won't take several days to finish.

Although this is 'WDtales' first story, I came to it by reading his latest, The Road To Hell (for which I've also written a review), and I have to say, I enjoyed Shanked just as much, if not more.
Although I loathe the game of golf, this tale is so well leavened with humour, I could get around my anti-golf prejudice. If you're a golf lover, you'll probably hate our hero for his dishonesty, I classed him as a loveable rogue.
Technically, the story is very good, with a minimum of errors and typos, well written, and grammatically correct. All in all, a pretty good story, and I would love to see more from 'WDtales' in the future.
