I truly love the craft of storytelling, of all types, whether it's sitting down with a good novel, reading a thoughtful newspaper piece . . . or sitting down at the computer for a little online erotica. I've worked with words for most of my career and can appreciate cleanly written prose, but what's most important will always be plot and characters. If I try to spell out my likes and dislikes, I find that I'm more open to a variety of styles and subjects than I realized. A long, well-thought-out coming-of-age tale will keep me coming back for weeks on end, yet I can just as easily enjoy the simplest of stroke stories. I'm a sucker for a romantic incest or impregnation story, but I'm just as likely to follow that up with something truly nasty. I tend to shy away from bestiality, violence and pain, but I'll occasionally dip my toe in those waters for the right author. Bottom line: I try to keep an open mind, and always remember that one person's squick is another person's turn on. And now that I've been reviewing on the site for awhile, I find that I'm gravitating toward focusing on the longer stories, to try to give a head's up to the reader that wants to know what he or she is getting into before making that kind of time investment.
