In "A Slut Like Me," Lauren Blue Eyes is the queen of the cliffhanger, the casual questions and ominous remarks at the end of a chapter that drives the reader to the next.
That's well and good for those of you lucky enough to read this story of incestuous secrets and desires now that it's completed. For those of us who followed along as it was being posted, there was much gnashing of teeth. But a tease is forgiven if the payoff proves worth it, and LBE does come through for her readers.
The family featured in "A Slut Like Me" seems pretty average on the surface, but when Mom and Dad discover a risque video recorded by their daughter, the secrets that the libidinous protagonist mother would like to keep buried begin to hatch out. She tries to sound out her daughter, Megan, as to how sexually active the teenager has become, but Megan requires tit for tat -- so to speak -- and expects answers of her own to relationships in the household that she doesn't understand. Will Megan be aghast at her mother's behavior, or is she indeed as big a slut as Mom?
LBE gets high marks for plotting, and her prose is clean, even as the subject matter is anything but. She also writes sex scenes that smolder at best, with partners of either gender.
But is this story of family fun fiction or memoir? LBE leaves her readers with that question in the end, but no matter how you slice it, "A Slut Like Me" is enjoyable erotica.
