It's not every erotic story that comes complete with travel tips as well as great sex scenes, but HLD has managed just that with "Spring Break," the first story in the "Three Girls and a Guy" series.
Set over the course of a week at Disney World, "Spring Break" relates the evolving and dissolving relationships between five college students: the male protagonist, his part-time girlfriend, his female best friend and occasional lover, and a female friend and her long-time boyfriend. What comes through as much as anything is the author's love of Disney's sprawling vacation destination in Orlando. If you're planning on visiting, you'd do well to take notes as you read.
Not that the sex itself isn't worth the journey, because HLD infuses the many couplings with a great deal of passion, love and lust. What starts as kind of a by-the-book progression of hot college students hooking up grows into a good deal more, as relationships are tested by the new feelings fueled by the sexual romps.
The only complaint would be that far too much in the resulting development of the characters lives' occurs in a short epilogue. Doing so would have made sense if this was the only time HLD chose to write about them, and that may have been the original intent, but the series does include two more stories featuring most of the characters. Perhaps they were the result of positive feedback. 'Tis better to have readers wanting more than to not care enough to finish a story . . .
HLD's prose is pretty clean, and a smooth read, but his greatest strength is the level of emotion he brings to the sexual couplings. It's a very stroke-worthy tale, but the story is good enough to keep you along for the ride to find out what happens.
