What's the most significant kind of praise one can give a story? Maybe it's "That's not a subject in which I'm interested, but I liked THAT story anyway."
I've never sought out the more ritualized dom/sub stories; you know, the dress-up-in-latex, suspend-'em-from-the-ceiling, whip-'em-until-they-learn-that-pain-is-pleasure-and-vice-versa type stories. It all just seems a bit too much, although I recognize that a lot of people DO like those kind of stories.
The caning of school girls is one fetish that the British do particularly well, though, and if you're looking to give this particular kink a try, then Connard Wellingham's "The Girls' School" is a good place to start. It's about the experiences of Adam Hazel, an average 26-year-old science teacher who gets hired as the lone male teacher at Greenwood Academy, a school for well-to-do girls.
Well, I think you can see where this is going. But there are actually some surprises along the way, and it has a slow enough build and a roster of well-drawn characters to keep you intrigued, even as you realize that there's more than meets the eye about this private school where all the "little minxes" are exceedingly beautiful and flirtacious.
This isn't a plot-driven story; after a point, most of the chapters can act as stand-alone stroke scenes. But Wellingham's strength is that even for those readers who aren't into latex cat suits and the proper wrist technique for applying a cane to a plump teenage bottom, the sex scenes are imbued with plenty of heat, lust and passion. And Wellingham does actually have a fairly surprising resolution for his tale, which then takes an additional turn at the very end to leave it emotionally satisfying.
