On 15 September 1942 the USS WASP (CV 7) was struck my multiple torpedoes that caused massive fires and tremendous explosions. After a forty minute effort to fight the fires, abandon ship was ordered. 193 crewmen lost their lives. One of those crewmen had written a letter to his five year-old son, which I offer you on Veteran's Day 2024 as a reminder of why these days of national rememberance and honor are so important.

This is a re-post of a story I wrote a couple of years ago. Somehow when it got posted it got screwed up. I hope how it's fixed. This is a story about aging, and some feel it is wishful thinking. I think it's positive thinking.
