Intemperance —
A Universe from the Mind of Al Steiner
A universe exactly the same as ours in all ways except for the existence of the rock and roll band Intemperance and all fictional characters that interact with them and the existence of Heritage County and Cypress County, California, the hometown of the bandmembers. This universe is in now way related to the Greenies/APW universe or the A Correct Destiny universe.
A few people have expressed interest in how I keep track of all the characters in the Intemperance story. The answer is the character sheet that contains the names, birth years, and basic background of all characters that require a backstory of some kind. For those that are interested, I post it here. There are a few in there from Book VIII, but nothing that will be a spoiler. Not all characters were worked up and some details were changed from my original vision of them.
The trials, tribulations, and debauchery of the fictional 1980s rock band Intemperance as they rise from the club scene to international fame. / (Reviews)
The continuing adventures of Jake Kingsley, Matt Tisdale, Nerdly Archer, and the other members of the rock band Intemperance. Now that they are big successes, pulling in millions of dollars and known everywhere as the band that knows how to rock, how will they handle their success? This is not a stand-alone novel. If you haven't read the first Intemperance you will not know what is going on in this one. / (Reviews)
The long awaited third book in the Intemperance series. Celia, Jake, Nerdly, and Pauline form KVA Records to independently record and release solo albums. They are hampered, however, by a lack of backing musicians for their efforts, have no recording studio to work in, and, even if this can be overcome, will still have to deal with the record companies in order for their final efforts to be heard.

Book number four in the long running narrative of the members of the 1980s rock band Intemperance, their friends, family members, and acquaintances. It is now the mid-1990s. Jake Kingsley and Matt Tisdale are in their mid-thirties and truly enjoying the fruits of their success, despite the fact that Intemperance has been broken up for several years now. Their lives, though still separate, seem to be in order. But is that order nothing more than an illusion?
Book V is widely considered the best of the series, including by myself, as lots of major events in the lives of Jake, Celia, and Matt occur, bringing them all into increasing contact with each other. Jake and Matt are both booked for the same music festival. Celia learns to deal with her divorce from Greg in several ways. Matt comes to the attention of men in suits. Jake and Laura find a way to make their marriage stronger.
The sixth book in Al Steiner's Intemperance series that follows the members of the 1980s rock band Intemperance as they rise from the club scene to international fame and then acrimoniously break up and go their separate ways. A well-researched tale about the music industry and those involved in it, full of realistic portrayals of the lifestyle and debauchery of rock musicians. In this volume, we're now in the late 1990s and early 2000s and facing, among other things, the rise of the MP3 file.
The seventh book in the ongoing Intemperance series picks up immediately after the shocking event that ended Book VI. Discussions have been made about putting the infamous band back together. Is this even possible now? Celia Valdez has gone down her own path. Will it lead her to happiness and fulfillment? Can the music go on after all that has happened?
The eighth book in the ongoing Intemperance series about a group of rock and roll musicians who rise from the club scene in a small city to international fame and infamy through the 1980s and onto the 2000s. After a successful reunion tour the band members once again go their separate ways, but with plans to do it all again soon. Matt Tisdale continues to deal with deteriorating health and no desire to change his lifestyle to halt the slide. Jake Kingsley navigates a sticky situation with Celia
