I have been a member of this site for, well it seems decades, only Lazeez will be able to tell, I just don't remember. It could have been the late-90s, could have been the early-00s.
How many stories have I read? Would have to be in the thousands, truly. All those years, all those nights and days reading.
What do I read? Pretty well eclectic other than some squicks and some authors that just turn me off.
What really annoys me? Bad writing and even worse, bad spelling. With Grammarly and other spell checkers there just is no excuse for some of the errors I have seen.
Lastly, why do I want to do reviews? To give back something for the huge pleasure I have gained from these stories over the years. I no longer regularly edit though I have done my fair share over the years. Many of the older authors will remember me even if it was just reporting errors or problems in their tales.
I hope you find my reviews to be valuable.
Please note that I am Australian so I will use Australian-English when reviewing stories. Live with it ;)
PS: My screen name, Burka_oz, comes from a Scout-name given to me when I was a Scoutmaster many years ago. It comes from an Australian Aboriginal word meaning simply, 'Respected Adult' and it was used to describe a man who had completed the Rites of Initiation and who had become a full adult in the tribe.
