Another reviewer gave this story a great review. All I can say is that it 'got' to me. I was outraged at some of the antics of the 'bad guys', and extremely happy with the final outcomes.

Definitely a good read, but keep in mind the disclaimer - read "Pasayton Pete" first so that you can get the full experience.

First up, if you have not yet read "Pasayten Pete" then very little of this tale will make sense to you. Honestly, this is not a stand-alone story, it is very clearly a sequel.

So, like the rest of Graybyrd's stores, this is a great tale. This follows the characters that we met in "Pasayten Pete" and we follow them as a money-grabbing resort development corporation uses all sorts of dirty deeds to try to get control of their mountain and valley.

This tale captures the salty language and behaviours of the country folks just right and you get to understand how they spend their lives fighting all sorts of petty bureaucracy trying to make themselves feel important by messing up the lives of ordinary folks. Would I be letting the cat out of the bag to let you know if they win or not?

Nah, I will say this much, good people always win in graybyrd's stories. Why should it change now?

Oh, and the ending just might have you adding a few "Awwwes." There are some pretty cute lines there to finish off the tale.

So, the scores:

Plot: perfect, everything that got started was packaged up and done with. 12

Technical: Perfect, didn't spot anything that I would have changed. 10

Appeal: Right to the top of the hammer swing and that bell is ringing loudly. I loved it! 15

But remember, read "Pasayten Pete" first or this will just confuse the heck out of you. LOL.

PS: If you have not yet read the series, I can thoroughly recommend his "Masi'shen" stories. Some of my favourite science-fiction/fantasy stories. I think you might enjoy them too.

UPDATE: 2023. In June 2023 it was announced that Graybyrd had passed away. Such a great Author and what we have is all we will ever get from his pen. We all wish him well in the Great Library with all the other Authors that we have missed, cmsix, and so many more that have left this realm behind and left a Legacy of great tales.

Dear Reader, don't take these stories and these Authors for granted. Let them know you appreciate their entertainment. Thank Lazeez for hosting this great site. All Readers have much to be grateful for.
