This story is based on an old English folk song. It takes place during the Napoleonic wars, and although the characters are fictitious, the dates, places, and flavor of the story ate accurate. It is the story of how a misfit youth who tried to fit into the harsh world around him.

This is the story of John Edwards, a fighter pilot in WW1, his combat experiences, and his romance with Connie Butler, a Red Cross worker. Most of the story involves a little-known, but very important, battle against the German observation balloons. John's favorite method of attack came from my imagination, but it could have worked and made a difference in the war. Every infantryman in WW1 had nothing but praise for the guts of the balloon busters.
This is a domestic terrorist, Tom Clancy or Robert Patterson-style story. I started writing this story in July 2001, and I stopped on 9/11, and it's been languishing in my Zombie file ever since. I don't know if I'll ever get back to it. but I wanted to share it with you,
