I was born with a gift or curse depending on who you ask. I could control fire or heat and since I was young none wanted me. I left my family and traveled to a city where a noble tried to sell me to a company of mercenaries. Only I was not one to accept a chain and made my point. I joined them and accepted a girl who knew about others that could use the power of the mind like us. We marched the next day to face raiders and I both learned and taught those with us.

The past wakes in the future when workers find a stasis tube. The young warrior is not only alive but the only one left in his clan. He brings old laws and ideas into the present and discovers treachery. Someone has poisoned the Liious clan and he is the only one that knows the cure. Now it is his right to face the cowards and strike the first blow.

I was born Kaire and raised by a human. He was the one to send me to Kair to finish school. That was where I found the old records of a lost colony. I just needed someone to listen and got more than I expected when it turned out to be the emperor. He sent me searching in a scout ship where we found those lost and forgotten.

There were a few clans, old clans, ancient clans. Ours was one of the oldest and the most deadly. When we first left earth and settled here there had been a price we paid. Now the only noble or government we recognized was the emperor. He maintained our peace and kept the clan secrets and let us live in peace. Now that I was of age I felt a debt to serve and left the clan to seek his permission and my future.

I was a creation of a mage and a servant. There were few ways for us to be free, one was to be a soldier. When my chance came I begged the mage and he gave me a task. If I completed it I would be a soldier. Little did I know that it would also change my life. I became a scout and before I knew it I was facing an army.

Mage hounds were created out of fear to hunt magic users. Only it went very wrong and they spread until they were the threat to every life. My hatred for the hounds was because of my anger at being hunted like an animal. My first chance to get a weapon came with the death of men that had been attacked and killed. Now I had what I needed and the hounds were not going to wait before coming for me.

A young mage coming into his power seeks revenge against the government that hunts him. He collects women along the way to create a new family.

Being a half breed to a wizard can be dangerous. Especially if you want to stay on the side of the light and follow the laws of magic. The city council could request mages be disciplined for breaking laws but it was the wizards that enforced it. I was a hunter of sorts or as my mentor wizard Garme said a retriever. When a mage turned to the dark arts or broke the laws I was sent to bring them to the council.
