A Story in the Maggie May Universe
This story is part of the Jake Rivers semi-annual writing "invitational" and is based on the lyrics of the song Maggie Mae, in this case as sung by Rod Stewart.
A mysterious vintage Leica begins delivering photographs Alex never took—intimate moments with a woman he hasn’t met. Each image pulls him deeper into the city’s shadows and toward Maya, a poet with secrets of her own. As the camera reveals glimpses of a perfect future, Alex must choose: follow the vision—or step out of the frame and into something real. A story about love, fate, and a life unframed. This is the draft prior to final edit, which reduced it from 6,500 words to 1,700.
A man take some time off from work to look for a birthday present for his wife but while shopping meets a stunningly beautiful woman. They small talk, tease each other and finally, well you know, get together in a dressing room. But who is she?
Neil and Jessica, brother and sister, were very close as children becoming life long lovers. It all started in a small coal-mining town in Tennessee. The family was dirt poor so they had to make their own entertainment. This is their story.
Maggie is a widow traveling to see her mother in a nursing home for the last time. She is driving on an isolated road when her car breaks down and she has to walk. She is rescued by a young ranch hand, Tim who helps her out and becomes her lover.
Josh, while taking a break from his stocks and securities activities, encountered a troubled woman in Hawaii. He wound up in the middle of a debacle, between a sibling rivalry and an Adonis, but wound up making the trade of his life. The sisters/lesbian tag comes to light very, very late in the story and is not a prominent theme.
