The Return of the Battlemage - A series in Universe
It has been four millennium since the last Battlemage has been born. The world now seems to have more "hidden" magic users than before. The mages council is aware of them all and is concerned about the danger untrained mages present to everyone around them. But after years of heavy handed approaches they come up with a new plan to combat this. Can Dusty who is a new and completely "untrained" Battlemage, who is not sure he even "believes" in magic, and who they pull completely out of his element, be able to help them? Will he even want too? Will he also be responsible for making "changes"?
James "Dusty" Mitchell thought it couldn't get any worse. He was orphaned at an early age, his last living relative died before he reached 21, and he just saw his girlfriend who he was going to ask him to marry him in the arms of another man in a night club. And just when he thought his life couldn't get anymore screwed up he saves an old man from being assaulted outside a bar and the old man turns everything he thought he knew about the world on its ear...
Dusty is starting to adjust to his new life in a new world of magic, but that new life is again going to change. In the middle of choosing which of the four women he wants to be with he is given a new mission to find out how children are being kidnapped and why monsters are attacking a town. Just as he feels it couldn't get any worse a "new" distraction then arrives to knock him off his game.
War is set to break out between two kingdoms. While this normally wouldn't ever have been a concern of the neutral Mage's Council, the fact that a weapon with an extremely high destructive power was being used. They want to know what it is and to do that they need the war stopped, so Dusty is sent to investigate. It’s bad enough he now has stop a war with only six people, but his new problem is that he thinks recognizes the weapon being used, and it looks to be from "his" world!
Dusty and Suzan decide to take separate missions to help out others, Suzan some guild friends and Dusty the Mage's council. Problems began when they have to stay out of contact with each other until their missions are complete. When things go wrong they are put in positions where they have to resolve their "own" problems with no help from the other, unaware of the others danger. One wrong step for Dusty means large scale death and the wrong one for Suzan means she'll never see Dusty again
The race of the oldest living creatures are upset with the way men are infringing on their lives and so they decide to do some thing about it by possibly destroying them all. But one of their number wants to save man and goes looking for a champion to speak on man's behalf. Problem is the most likely candidate to be chosen for this job, Dusty, is already currently on a job and up to his neck in undead as he tries to unravel that mystery around why "they" are out roaming the countryside!
Dusty, his family, and his friends have been able to over come almost every "obstacle" they have faced. But now the issue between the Mage's council and Wolfgang will come to a head in a way Dusty wouldn't have imagined and he will be forced to intervene to maintain a balance. But in the middle of all of this Dusty will have to train a new and unexpected "Apprentice" from his former world. All these things combined will change everything forever as Dusty's knows it.
