This is a variation of my short story Born in David's Basement. It concerns Michael and David and their frustrating relationship, where David is hopelessly anti-gay and Michael is hopelessly confused. Enter Michelle, his alt-universe alter ego who saves the day. Read my note to the reader at the beginning of the story before reading.

Appalachian Red 'Doc' Winters is a legend in more ways than one. His "doctoring" includes tending to all the folks in Beaver Valley using local herbs and self-taught skills.
