AutumnWriter has only recently started posting on SOL. I am thankful for the addition of another talented writer.
"The Setup" is a fine story, albeit not a particularly good stroker. Since the story is about a contrived "date" to deflower a college virgin, sex has to be involved, but it is not the center of the story.
Tracy has convinced her lover, Steven, to spend the weekend with her roommate, Jennifer. Tracy has to be gone for the weekend due to a family emergency, and she has passed on to Steve the sad tale of Jennifer's woe begone existence. She must lose her virginity, according to Tracy, in order to gain confidence. Jennifer knows all about the arrangements Tracy has made.
Steve, however, is not a bundle of testosterone driven urges ready to jump a virgin just to have her. He is a caring young man, who wants to do right by this girl he barely knows.
"The Setup" is the story of two relative strangers working out a mutually satisfactory solution to their problem.
Considering the confines of the short story format, the story is very well told with developed characters and a level of sensuality often lacking in the typical "poke and grind" story.
The technical quality is good; a smooth read without irritating errors to interrupt the tale. The writing is polished, shining on either a wonderful natural story telling talent coupled with a good working knowledge of our language, or an author that works to polish the story.
Read and enjoy. I certainly did.
