The Hosts of Heaven and the Legions of Hell have battled over the Realms since the Creator and the Destroyer spoke both into being - and for ten thousand years, the only result has been stalemate. This is a story in four parts of precisely 250 words each. Each 'chapter' uses the name of one of the four great Celtic Fire Festivals. It is short and, I hope, sweet.
Nora divorced, has lost custody of her twins. Her reputation is destroyed, she's destitute, and has just smashed her car. She needs a new life. Jack, the wrecker operator has needs too. It is business at first, but then they made a deal.
They'd worked together, Jake and his 'Aunt' Cecelia, his Mom's best friend, and now all of his Mom, Susie's, stuff was taken care of. The funeral was over and it was time to settle down. Cecelia had been a part of Jake's life 'forever'; he'd been, in fact, 'in lust' with her always, it seemed. He didn't know that she felt the same way but was about to find it out, and the romance began.
Among humans and elves, there is mostly peace, however any child born of the two is condemned on both sides. Out on the fringes of Alliance territory, an old sun slowly suffocates a primitive world. Humans watch over the natives with tenderness while turning on each other. Out here, humans own elves. Out here, the elves practice their rebellious side. Out here, the mongrels come to find some peace. Out here, song birds are caged.
