He finds that his gifts are the accidental byproduct of failed military experiments to enhance the senses and abilities of soldiers. But even if the failures ruined a lot of lives, the prime movers aren't ready to give up, having come so close to success.

This is a scene that I actually edited out of one of my novels. I came across it as I was sorting through files and thought I'd see what you thought. You might recognize the names, Kara and Jacob, if you've read my work before. It's a quick sex scene between two lovers separated by anger.
This story is not related to my story "Breast Enhancements", but is infact an offshoot of "Placebo": More messing around with mother nature. "Placebo" need not be read prior, but it will provide a little different flavor (NPI) to the story.
