After my accident, I couldn't muster enough emotion to care about anything. I didn't realize it but I was suffering from a depression. It eventually even affected my marriage. Here's how I managed to break out of It and make my life better.

I was offered the opportunity to write a tribute story to one of my favorite authors, Mickey Spillane. Although the characters are my own, I tried to capture the essence of a Mike Hammer story. I hope you enjoy.

After earning my degree I entered the engineer guild. That got me my first job in space, only it was far from friendly. When I found a problem with a lifeboat I should have checked it better. When the drill sounded during the night they kicked us free after disabling everything so we would die. Only I knew what I was doing and managed to save us. When we reached the next system it was to find the ship empty and the mutineers running. That was when I began to hunt them for what they had done.

As the illegitimate son of the heir I was his bastard. My father and grandfather hated me and would have seen me dead if they could. I grew up away from them, ridiculed and despised by all. When my brothers and sisters began to die they said it was accidents. Now it was my turn but I was more careful and then the nobles summoned me as if I were one of them.

When his needy overweight sister starts hugging him, their relationship takes an interesting turn.
