Having been alerted by allies to a hostile culture the Council of the Wise has decided to take a look as to whether or not this culture is a threat. A team is being assembled and journeyman Mage John asked to go as aide to Mage Roxanne. The threat turns out to be very real, and, rather than just observe, the Mages and their allies are drawn into the conflict against a foe whose numbers dwarf humanity. Story stands alone, but readers of Magician will know the characters better.

There is racial prejudice & violence as the young man travels. There is romance, humor, and friendship along the way. This is a Traditional Western. If you don't like stories of the 'old west' don't read this story.
