While walking to another field to think on his plight, Derek is set on by three men going to recruit as mercenary soldiers in the American Revolution, who debauch him and take him with them to be a soldiers' boy.

A Story in the Band Parents Universe
The end-of-the-year tradition in the band is that the senior class band members have an all-night party on the school grounds. There are some adult chaperones, but they can't be everywhere at once. There's a lot of kids sneaking off for some fun. One the adults gets to do a little sneaking, too.
