This story was written at the request of my editor, Denny Wheeler. Like me, Denny is a fan of the brilliant 'Brother Cadfael' novels of the late Ellis Peters. He asked me to write a story about Cadfael's adventures before he became a monk. This is the result.

This is very slow, and somewhat darker than my usual stuff, but after all... it's a trial. There is a hint of Beastiality and Rape in it, but not enough to code it that way.
