This is a true story of the summer I spent at my grandmother's house in Indianapolis, Indiana. I was 16 at the time. During my walks around the area, I had noticed an adult book store on Washington Street (aka US Highway 40). I finally worked up the nerve to enter the store, figuring the worst that could happen was that I'd be promptly kicked out. I wasn't!
The program was to create men and women to become soldiers. From the time we were babies that was what they began training us to be. Only before the program could begin to accept us into the fleet or marines our system was attacked. There were ten thousand of us old enough to fight. We lost more than our lives that day. The few still alive were given compensation and the program stopped. Now I live on a water world and had to face life and criminals.
Jasper is a fourteen year-old genius who hooks up with a classmate to work on a high school biology project. He falls in love with her, but she's four years older and he's frustrated that she'll never appreciate the depth of his feelings. Elmer, the man who raised him and his brother gets involved with his biology teacher and sets a lot of interesting adventures into motion.
