Probably the safest bet of the last couple of years would be that the reports of the "pregnancy pact" in Massachusetts would result in a number of stories written on that theme. Case in point: RH Music's "Trapped by the Pregnancy Club."
John Michaels is a 30-something science teacher, a dedicated educator beloved by his students both as an instructor and as a man. He discovers this to a degree beyond his comprehension one summer day when he finds himself locked in a basement with eight comely teenage girls, all of whom have signed off on a pact to get pregnant by Christmas.
Music chooses to have his cake and eat it to. On the one hand, this is wish fulfillment for anyone turned on by the idea of nubile young maidens whose greatest desire is to be impregnated and start being a mommy as soon as possible. On the other hand, Michaels is a "good guy," and even as he is physically forced and gently coerced into playing the club's games, he struggles throughout with the moral and ethical issues. At a certain point, the reader will likely come to the conclusion that Michaels doth protest too much, but Music has reasons for not wanting the character to get completely on board with the plan.
"Trapped by the Pregnancy Club" goes light on the reality. There are holes in the plot a mile wide, like how the planned disappearance of eight girls for as long as two months is not going to be noticed, but that's okay. This is really an excuse to get nine personalities confined to a contained area with a specific goal, and to watch Music's characters interact. It's coercion as romance, and a certain part of the readership will be quite satisfied with how the story plays out.
