A story in the Changes Universe
We prefer to think everything modern man introduces is new and unique. That is not really true. One sort of wise man used to say 'History Repeats Itself' at least unless man learns from the past mistakes. This story builds on that. If on Earth, things might have been different, maybe not though. Just recently a religious zealot I have known a long time told me things no sane, cognizant, rational man would be able to say with a straight face. Read on please.
This story is designed to highlight the extreme conditions of physical, emotional and sexual abuse to which all Roman slaves were liable to be exposed, through the experiences of three boy gladiators. It was inspired largely by the TV series 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' (and features a cameo from one of the characters) and the book 'Time Hunters: Gladiator Clash' by Adam Blade. Credit goes to ChatGPT for talking through my ideas with me and coming up with interesting settings for some scenes.
A Slave Girl Story (1) Myrna is told to leave the building by Aron. On the way out, she is saved from freezing to death when a traveler invites her to spend the night in his room. He leads Myrna to a new life, a position she never dreamed of, and an inheitance she never sought. This is the first story in the Slave Girl series.
A Jacqueline de Belleville Story (6) 1817. Jacqueline and the other 31 young women captives held at Wadi Halaf settle into the demands of harem life while negotiations are held for payment of their ransoms. But both sides of the negotiations are suspicious of the other, and the intermediaries are no more trustworthy. It's a recipe for trouble which could see the young women spend the rest of their lives as harem slaves entertaining their lusty overlords.
