Military Stories

A story in the Daughters of the Line Universe
When a burning bomber crashes at the edge of a WAAF airfield, medical orderly Vera Ashworth doesn't stop to think—she runs toward it. What follows is thirty seconds that will define her: a trapped pilot, bombs still live in the wreckage, and a choice made not in her mind but in her body, before fear has time to catch up. A short, true-hearted story about the quiet shape of courage—and what it costs to be called a hero for doing the only thing you knew how to do.

The Wolfians realize that they have found a unique structure far beyond anything that their technology can duplicate. This is the story of their exploration of only a portion of the Dyson Sphere and how they contribute to the continued viability of the structure. Why explore only a portion of the structure? Consider that this is a sphere 200 million kilometers in diameter! The Wolfians claimed 0.23% of the area, and this is on the order of 1,706 times the size of all of the land area of Earth.

A story in the The Medieval Marine Universe
A former US marine gets transported back in time to medieval England where he has to make allies and then adapt and overcome numerous obstacles. Not only to survive, but to keep his knowledge out of the wrong hands.

The experiences of a Marine when he is stationed on the Japanese island of Okinawa. He meets an amazing lady, and things go from there. Notice, this is a cleaned up and edited version of a story I first posted in 1996.

A Trans World Traders Story
What happens when a Special Ops. vet with missing legs drives his motorcycle off the side of a mountain? Well, the aliens catch him, of course. It seems that they need a man with his training and experience to stop a wave of kidnapping of sex slaves. Join him as he and his wives stop the kidnappers in their tracks. He's no superman, but the natives look up to him that way.

A Thank You Note Story
This is my thank you note for those men who served in WWI. I had two great-uncles who were in France, and one was gassed, but survived. He fought a battle with what mustard gas had done to his lungs for the rest of his life. This is a what-if kind of story. Suppose the US Army had used a little imagination. What might have happened then? One squad tests out an idea. Read what might have happened.

A Thank You Note Story
A sergeant leads his last patrol through another miserable town in Iraq. They're hit by 50-70 insurgents. This is their battle to survive.

Kelly's Heroes is one of my favorite movies. So when I sat down to write this, I wrote it from a modern warfare perspective and put the first scene starting after they had the money and were escaping. The end of the story is what they did with the reward money. I left a bit of room for sequel, but I'll only write it if there's enough interest. Hope you enjoy and please let me know if you like it or what I can do better...
