In 1916 Cliff Mills, a thirty-plus-year-old handsome, robust, rough, muscular, and hirsute iron smith and welder turned stained-glass artisan for Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesin, in Wisconsin, has no trouble finding young male artists to cover.
