This story can stand alone but it touches on other stories with the primary one being "Intertwined." It is about an Army retiree entering civilian life. There is only a little sex in this story which is slow to develop and is not overly descriptive.
Captain Tom Davis met Laurel, his neighbor's little girl, who was out walking her doll Betty. She'd gone around the corner and he took her back to where he Mom was out looking for her. It only increased his deep feelings for both Laurel and her Mom Sherry. He was there also, when there was a real problem and proved a help. It was Laurel's idea to announce that he was her 'Poppa' and that was all that Tom needed to ask Sherry to allow him to make it real. She did, of course.
Callie Crow and the rest of "The Ghost Girls" crew visit the allegedly haunted Deepwood Asylum, a hospital for the sexually depraved, which was shut down decades ago after it was discovered that the head doctor was performing horrific experiments on patients. The ghost hunting crew is determined to capture creepy footage to boost their Youtube views, but little do they know that they are about find more proof of ghosts than they bargained for...
