A Story in the Second Best Universe Second Best, Book II. If you haven't read Second Best, you'll probably survive -- but it will give you something to do, after... Strange Relationships was a finalist for the Silver Clitoride Award for April 2006.
A writing group I'm on had a festival for stories based on songs. Since I do that anyhow, it was right up my alley! This is the story about two friends, best friends since toddlerhood, who--having no other options--decide to go to the junior prom together. What happens? Read and find out!
It all started with a date to the prom. Gabriel MacKenzie is a television actor unsure of himself and of getting back into relationships. He meets a young girl and their lives are changed.
Magic of the Wood With the government threatening nearby nature, Daniel and the family born of his nymph mate Xantina know that they must stand in the way of 'progress'. Kia, his granddaughter, has lost her way and her devotion, but that's all about to change. Love can conquer all -- even eternity itself.
The plot has many surprises. I don't want to reveal too much. Backscatter is a near term futuristic story, starting in Bell County Texas in the 2040's. It's a story of epic adventure, lots of hard SF, and it starts with something as simple as a grocery shopping list.
A Blues Story Bobby Washington got hit by a car when he was fifteen, leaving him in a coma that lasted three years. When he did wake up he had epilepsy and needed to get a GED so an in-home physical therapist/caregiver was needed. Mai Li MacIntosh was born in Vietnam but raised in the U.S. Her very first job as a physical therapist was to rehab Bobby Washington's wasted body. It was supposed to be a three to six month job. She wasn't supposed to fall in love with her patient. But she did.
This work is the conclusion of Scout, by Warlord, an unfinished story that captured my imagination and demanded a conclusion. Whether or not my conclusion is anything near what Warlord had originally planned, I have no idea, but it is what I came up with. I realize that my writing style differs from his, but I tried to maintain as much similarity as possible for as long as possible.
