"Computers don't think, all they can do is calculate. But when does calculation become thinking?" That's is the question keypuncher Jack Heyward keeps asking himself when the system he's using suddenly starts talking back. But Jack has more problems; this system is an especially sensitive one, and he's suspected of a major security breach. And even if he, his new computer friend and his girlfriend can elude the massive manhunt, a new and more deadly peril awaits.
Readers from both sites suggested that I port some of my better received stories over here. And who doesn't love a do-over? Especially if you can clean up a slightly buggy original and incorporate reader feedback? I can't tell you why I got off on my Hemingway kick - probably lack of creativity on my part. But, I can't think of any story that would be harder to adapt than the Old Man and the Sea. So of course I had to try it. I hope you enjoy it - DT

This is a repost and reedit of and older story I named Healing Hands. It was a dumb title and didn't really fit the story. Some of the characters in this story remain some of my favorites. Y'all should read it, either for the first time or again.
Bobby Washington got hit by a drunk driver while he was riding his bike and all the doctors thought he was a gonner. He lived, but he was in a coma for three years, and he had epilepsy. When he finally woke up his mom's dreams seemed to have come true. But there were still issues. He had a fifteen-year-old mind in an eighteen body. An Asian physical therapist came to live with them and, together, they tried to bring Bobby back to a normal life.
