Fourteen-year-old Jessie has been studying dance, music, and drama at Sean's Long Island performing arts school. Sean takes a group of students he thinks are ready for Broadway on a field trip into New York City. One of their lecturers there is an English clothes designer, Aaron Taggert, who is designing costumes for a revival of "The Sound of Music," which has a preteen boy's part. Taggert prefers preteen boys. Jessie wants the part in the musical and Sean wants it for him.
