Ha, ha, ha! Got you Meahana! If you type '500, or '300', you don't need to write 'hundred' after it, much better if you write 'five hundred, 'or 'three hundred' though!
That's it! That's the only thing I could find wrong with The Shortstop, but if I'm going to be brutally honest about myself, I was enjoying the story too much to look too hard.
Good plot, great dialogue, technically excellent, leavened with humor; if you look up 'Short Story' in the encyclopedia, you'll find The Shortstop there as an example. Brilliant!
