The Empire has been at peace for many years, but there are restless forces seeking conquest. The Universe teems with many species who hanker for domination. Old enemies are busy behind the scenes.
The story begins on Earth but shifts to the Empire in a different Galaxy. That Galaxy faced Intergalactic War over a hundred thousand years ago. Thousands of years ago the Empire seeded people on Earth.
Only one old frail man is selected to return on a Battleship to the Empire.
Trouble is brewing again.
Who are the enemies and what are their agendas?
On the verge of old age and entering an old aged home Jason's 80 year old wife suicides after she is diagnosed with dementia and he faces murder charges. He is asked to travel to the Empire which is 65000 years ahead to help his sick great grandfather run his Duchy. He travels on a battleship but faces new enemies and lovers but finally has to decide if he can face his nemesis.
Close to death after being shot through the heart, Jason is taken by his fleet who are making a desperate attempt to help the Empire fight off a surprise attack from their old enemies the Mob. They fight vicious battles as Jason struggles to recover and eventually are forced to decide if they will confront the monster in its lair. Jason once again faces death as his enemy hits back. Can he find allies to help find his hidden enemy? Nearly all is lost in closely fought battles.
Finally reaching the Empire after subduing the Mob, Jason faces assassination and a complex recovery before he attempts to rescue his Great Grandfather then enters University where he faces repeated threats and adversity before facing impending Intergalactic War.
A Tale of Deception, Corruption, and Betrayal. The Battle for Charassa has left the Allies victorious but shaken. Jason, faces a daunting intelligence task and tackles corrupt executives backed by ruthless pirates and people smugglers. He and his team encounter a threat to the Royal family that could lead to a worsening of the war. Chloe, the fourteen-year-old grandchild of the Emperor, begins her first romance, while the enemies of Earth have infiltrated the planet and have a plan of their own. Other powerful enemies decide the time is ripe to act and target the Emperor. Chloe and her friends discover unexpected abilities that help them play a key role in the events that follow. Earth becomes part of the house of the Emperor and begins a process of painful restructuring.
In the penultimate adventure-packed book of this space opera, Jason becomes established as Emperor, but before his people awaken the enemy attack. They corrupted his people before they entered stasis and poisoned his people in their sleep. It gets worse; Jason becomes desperately ill and must go to yet another galaxy for treatment. A spider queen captures him and holds him hostage. Then her mother attacks his planet.
The concluding episode of the series is a thriller. The vanguard of an ancient enemy arrives in our universe and occupy the bodies of students and tries to kill the Emperor. They are highly advanced and unstoppable. Another universe may present a solution but travel is perilous and the outcome uncertain. The Emperor must find a solution that protects the students and his people from an implacable foe.
