Based significantly on real experiences, this is a universe that draws from the sexual revolution days principally in the 1970s, and, where useful, from the 1980s. Much will take place in the Washington, DC, area. The actual period was one in which STDs were under control. Assorted sexually oriented businesses -- strip clubs, dungeons, swing clubs -- operated openly. This doesn't mean that individual characters won't have emotional stress or sometimes non-sexual disease, but that police raids are not a threat.
