The last Mage is waiting at the last remaining star in a dying Universe. He's waiting for the last battle against the only real Enemy of all sentient species in the history of the Universe. Survival isn't a desired outcome, with all other life in the Universe extinguished. Killing the Enemy that has killed all the Mage has ever loved is the only goal.
