A story set in the Pinwheel Universe
Set in the Pinwheel universe, Dennis is overjoyed to accept a job as the first human ambassador to Earth on Borealis, but gets more than he bargained for when he realizes his position might not exactly be a promotion.

The boys and girls were in two lines facing each other across The Den, a big dark space in the heart of a massive wild rhododendron bush in the scrubby wasteland behind the estate, and we were about to have our first Sexual Education lesson. I looked up and down the line of girls, desperately hoping I'd get Lizzie.

This one is a slow starter, with romantic overtones. Dumped as he waited for his g/f the cinema he noticed a mature woman nearby crying, distracted from his disappointment he comforted her and things developed from there.
