Time and circumstances set the stage for a dependent widowed mother to finally have her mature for his age son's root buried in her bush. She says, "We can't." He says, "Who's going to know?" "Nobody, I guess but don't ever tell anyone I let you."

After Plain Jane's widowed grandmother's funeral, the last task she was asked to do by her mother was to help clear the last of Gran's effects from her near-empty house before the new owners moved in. It was quite late at night, but she went with Mum to Gran's old house, where she had so many childhood memories, for the last sad time.

Phil arrives home from a meeting to a surprise. It leads to an adventure and a love he thought he'd never have.
