In a short six month period, Mary Beth Rohan, who had already lost both of her parents, suffered the deaths of her three cousins and then their wonderful father, her Uncle Ned. After the cousins' funeral, Mary Beth stayed with Uncle Ned to take care of him. The only bright light at that time was the handsome detective, Mike Gray, who investigated the road rage incident that killed the cousins. Then Uncle Ned died making an arrangement that stunned Mary Beth. She turned to Mike Gray to help her.

The trip back to Glenwood for Dr Dave Harris, though he'd recently been there, was a hard one. His lovely little sister Geraldine and her husband Hal had been killed in an auto accident. He was returning to become the 'Poppa' for their daughter, his God daughter Geraldine, Gerry. It was a beginning for the two of them, though Gerry said that she'd like to have a Mommie. That had to wait a while but in the end even that was possible.

The situation, involving a hostage, was threatening to get out of hand. That's when they called their expert marksman, Gail Coleman. With one quick move he took care of the situation, and even won the girl.

The good and bad of his life right then caused Stewart Rainert a need to think. He'd gotten his degree and a job, found a woman in Anita Corso that he was beginning to really like, but his wonderful Uncle Ned died. Little did he suppose at that point that being Uncle Ned's only heir would so change his life. The reality of it was hard to assimilate; he turned to Anita and her son Mark to help.

What a contrast in living: Dr Bob Raines was a successful surgeon. Georgia Wilson spent her life in a wheel chair as the result of an accident, when she was younger. She took care of herself but it was a constant struggle. They met only after he waved to her, when passing her on the way from his workout. Then one day it was raining and she was in the rain. He stopped and life took a sharp turn for them.
