A New Career Story California of 1850 provides a bountiful source of adventure and some sex as John Wilson winds up cleaning up a part of San Francisco. Mostly, he goes after kidnappers, and that proves very lucrative as he assumes the persona of a detective and troubleshooter. Not only that, but he establishes his own version of the Baker Street Irregulars.
This is my own take on Agena's "A Joke". I suggest reading that one first. Mine picks up as the "sex session" between Flo and Roger is wrapping up. This tale is written in response to Agena's invitation to write a continuation, or our own ending. It deals with the consequences of cheating, or the perception of cheating, and the consequences of Revenge as well.

Ned Sommerfield is a middle-aged chemistry professor in a small university. He has an on-again, off-again, casual relationship with Caitlin, a younger assistant prof in another department who is on the rebound from a failed affair. She discovers that Ned possesses a rare root from a plant he collected in the rain forest years ago when he did fieldwork there. He tells her the natives claim it is a powerful aphrodisiac. Intrigued, Caitlin pesters him to try it and eventually he agrees.
Josh is a young man with gender identity issues. His friend David, is fueling those issues. Josh believes he’s gay, David comes to believe that also, but both are wrong. Josh is something else entirely. Her name is Josie, and she’s born in David’s basement.
