The Summer of 1992 is a period of growth for Sammy. He becomes serious about Kelley and serious about life. What should be a carefree vacation from school becomes a take-charge matter of urgency when Sammy learns disturbing news of Mr. Oldham's health.

A motherless girl finds a beautiful actress abandoned on her doorstep on Christmas morning. And then her father wakes up. And they start arguing. Sigh. It had seemed like such a good idea, asking Santa Claus for a new girlfriend for Daddy. She hoped he hadn't screwed up her other presents this badly.

Her long planned biking vacation turned into a nightmare because of a storm that was supposed to be south of them. She tried to keep her spirits up by singing the old song: 'Singin' in the rain', which she actually was doing. But the whole trip was turning into a disaster, until he came along in his RV with his faithful companion Boney, his dog, and rescued her.

A high water alert was sent to the Rescue Squad, and they went to the creek by the picnic grounds as a precaution. The little girl was too close, when the bank caved in. Her Momma jumped in immediately and grabbed her but was in danger herself. Then J.A. Wayne, member of the squad jumped in and got them both but was swept away, when the woman and girl were rescued. He hit his head and was sinking, when he was rescued. It was severe enough that it produced a coma and then she rescued him.
