A story in the Redhead Stories Universe
The first in what, I hope, will be a series of stories about Redheads. I've created a "Universe" and any may contribute. Please follow the few strictures. Mine won't be sexy. I hope you enjoy this story. This one is about two college students with some action and some romance.
Amelia has always had a pilot fantasy, and she stays in airport hotels whenever she has the chance - always hoping. So far, she's had no luck. When a handsome pair of pilots buy her a drink, she's hoping at least one of them isn't a jackass, so she can fulfill her fantasy at last. She doesn't realize that her fantasy is about to get upgraded to first class with double rewards.
Robert is following a tradition that goes back generations - sitting beside the old pond at the end of the county road, drinking beer smuggled to him by his older brother. When his Mom's best friend catches him, things hardly turn out as he would have expected.
His father was a Ranger and killed fighting men and dark creatures in and around the Dark Woods. From a young age he was determined to follow in his father's steps. When he wins his chance his selects two halfbreed elven women to help and supports him. From bandit to drakes to a wyvern he and his team of Rangers battle to restore order to the forest.

This is the story of John Edwards, a fighter pilot in WW1, his combat experiences, and his romance with Connie Butler, a Red Cross worker. Most of the story involves a little-known, but very important, battle against the German observation balloons. John's favorite method of attack came from my imagination, but it could have worked and made a difference in the war. Every infantryman in WW1 had nothing but praise for the guts of the balloon busters.
