This story was written at the request of my editor, Denny Wheeler. Like me, Denny is a fan of the brilliant 'Brother Cadfael' novels of the late Ellis Peters. He asked me to write a story about Cadfael's adventures before he became a monk. This is the result. It is primarily a mystery story with very little sex. If you like that sort of thing - read on! If you're looking for lots of hot action and dirty words - don't bother!!!

A Love story set against the background of the Second World War. The story starts in 1936 with Jack and Beth meeting in Jack's father's boat yard. They are from very different backgrounds but even so, over the next few years, friendship turns to romance. Then the war intervenes...
