Sophia is a pilot, flying her sister's plane and searching for the truth about the events surrounding the death of her sister. She forces her way aboard the Neutral ship Silvana, to confront the captain, John Bren, about his involvement with her sister's death. Bren has his own uses for Sophia, both politically and personally.

This is a Western story in two parts. The second part has the same stand alone quality. It tells the story of the long valley where Ferris Town draws characters from both. Some characters speak in dialect. Ignore the spelling. I watched the twins next door grow up and was good friends with their mom, none of whom ever expressed any interest in ice fishing, which was my passion.
