Colonists on planet Varada long ago created a species they call Novo Homonids or Novonids. These humanoids have green skin enabling them to derive nourishment from sunshine. Originally created as farm workers, Novonids now also perform menial work in cities and towns. Subjugated and considered sub-human, Novonids are as capable as their masters and are beginning to crave equality. This is the coming-of-age story of Lise, a teen-aged Novonid girl.
