This story was written as a parable explaining what it really means to follow the Path of the Do Warrior. Somehow, it got all mixed up with those metaphor thingies and humor. Caution: Existentialism ahead.

A Story of the Am'mortal
Humanity has seen its end and the Gods have spoken to the last one hundred sorcerers and seers, witches and magi, healers and priests who were wise enough to see the end and flee it. But now they have been doomed to immortality by the Father of the Universe who cannot bear the idea of letting go of all Humans. As the barbarous humans encroach ever more on the domains of the elder races, the elves and dwarves retreat from the world. Hiding their civilizations in the deep forests and under the mountains. It was the barbarians' discovery of magic, however, that sealed the elders' fate. In the last city of the elves, a human shaman has sent his minions to capture one of the elder races for use in the most vile of magics. Fading from the world they may be, the elder races would teach one last lesson.

A rogue is betrayed and seeks revenge. First he must escape prison and question the one he had trusted. After that it is a journey to find the one behind it. His travel ends in Retreat, a port city of thieves and killers. His hunt gets harder, first to find those it could have been and then to break in and question them.
