SOL Showdown Official Entry
Jennifer was having a horrible no-good very bad day, until she found her new Daddy. The narrator (Jennifer) has a filthy mouth, so be warned. Not only that, but please check the codes before you read. This is a slightly revised version of my entry in Showdown V, the fifth showdown in the SOL writers group. It's Rebecca's first day in the eighth grade and the fourteen year old girl is excited. Her whole life she has been dreaming of this moment, the day when she will finally be queen of the school. For the eighth grade is the highest grade at Robert E. Lee Middle School. She had heard the big brouhaha about the changing of the school district, the redrawing of its boundaries and the busing in of kids from some of the housing projects in West End but she hadn't paid it any mind.
As the weekly cull approaches in a Dolcett world, an everyday, regular butcher waits with his wife, son and three eccentric teenage daughters in front of the live TV show, ready for the lottery balls to jingle and someone to fall...
