Heather Mercer was a junior high school teacher whose life was fine until her husband got in debt to a loan shark. The choices were slim. Allow his organs to be sold on the black market, or become a stripper on the weekends at the club the loan shark owned. Oh, yes. And then there was the sex she had to supply her new boss. This is a much-revised version of a long novel I posted on SOL in 2013. I expect to post new chapters weekly. The MC gets a new life, but this is no simple do-over; he has a much-improved body and a minimal tool kit, but beyond that he's on his own. No laws, no government--this is ultimate survival, on an Earth in the late Ice Age. There are others like him, including women, if he can find them, while avoiding the sabertooths and giant bears!
Nicholas Porter didn't consider himself a hero, and if asked, was uncomfortable with all the attention that entailed. A position that changed, however, when he discovered a hero's reward.
