This story is not erotic and there is minimal sex, if you can call it that. I hope it is romantic, in its own way. It is more a study where the feeling and symptoms are taken from actual case studies about this problem and are all put into one story. Since I have been there and done that, I knew what I was looking for. So there is no one person named Kara -- she is a compilation of hundreds of case studies I read about on sites for this type of problem as background.

In the future, humans have "outgrown" the need for physical contact. Although a very few, the genetically defective, still crave the touch of others, skin-to-skin contact is forbidden. (Note: Story codes are added as the plot progresses)
Gina and Liam became instant friends the weekend they became across-the-hall neighbors. Five years later, when Gina locks herself out of her apartment, she relies on Liam to help her out. Eventually, they will help each other travel down the path of healing and discovery.
A literary version of candy corn, this mercifully short story straddles the delicate distinction between horrific and horrible, until it finally falls off and lands on the wrong side. Readers, ye be warned!
