24 Hour Record by Fable Sweet, funny and sexy as all get-out. Don't miss this one, or Fable's other splendid fables...
52 Pick-Up by juanwildone A deliciously wicked, thorough and highly original revenge - followed by a heart warming, believable and emotionally satisfying reconciliation. Enjoy!
Only issue is poor conversion (from Macincrap?) rendering many long hyphens as Ð...
99 First Dates (Revised) by Stultus They say that a woman has to kiss a lot of toads before she finds her prince. Same goes for a man, as this hilarious story of the Dating Scene attests to. Only read this in a place where it is OK to laugh out loud.
The Blend by Unca D Before getting a fixation on lukewarm water up the bum, Unca D wrote fabulous stories. "The Blend" is just one of them, but one I am very fond of ("Texting Seth" is another favorite). Read all the old ones - the story lines are so unusual and so satisfying.
Blind Date by Telephoneman Telephoneman writes GREAT stories. The theme of "Blind Date" is that of a relationship with a big age-differences, something I have explored myself in several of my stories. I hope to do as well as Telephoneman one day...
Bobby's Good Deeds by Lubrican Okay - so I simply had to add another Lubrican story; this time a long one and about large age differences, which I find fascinating and write about myself. Oh, and because this is one of the best stories I have ever read. Period.
Breaking Point: Gordy by Shrink42 Now, THAT'S a love-story. Read, enjoy - and then go through Shrink42's back-catalog of excellent stories.
A Christmas Story by Argon It may be a Christmas story but this fine romance can be read at any time of the year.
Cookie Magic by Lazlo Zalezac I am still laughing. Lazlo is the greatest humorist bar none on SOL.
Falling for Jenny by Smilodon This story is the absolute perfect "first time" story and a sweet romance.
A Family Torn by Laptopwriter Laptopwriter's stories are not all to my liking, but this one is arguably one of the best reconciliation stories around.
Finding a Place by Don Lockwood You will not find a better story about recovering from bullying told from a male perspective. Period. I've read this story again and again and I love it. The journey from - literally - death's door to ultimate happiness is heart warming in an exceptional way.
Finding Shelter by Jay Cantrell I'm a sucker for romances. This is a very fine one. Long, but well worth the read. I've read most of Jay Cantrell's stories and I urge you to do the same. They are finely told all of them - some of the left me disappointed, but that's because they ended the way they did, NOT because of the storytelling! One that never disappoints is "Garlic Salt?" arguably the best drifting-apart story I've ever read.
First Cheer by just-this-guy If you want a good laugh then read just-this-guy's outrageously funny stories. Read them all! This is my favorite, but I've never read a just-this-guy story I didn't like.
Fringe Benefits by Michael Lindgren I wish this story was mine. I dare not hope ever to be able to write anything like this.
Goin' Fishin' by Marsh Alien Marsh Alien wrote lovely quirky stories. This would be my favourite.
Heroes by Don Lockwood "Heroes" is for high-school girls what "Finding a place" is for college boys. This story is grim. Very grim, but it is also a wonderful love story.
House for Sale by J.C. Miller I am a sucker for a romantic story with a happy ending. This one is perfect.
A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow by Jeremy Spencer Jeremy Spencer's stories are all great. This is the best gawky-high-school-boy-gets-the-ultra-babe story around. Besides being a great story, it is pure joy to read just for Jeremy's command of the language - and his use of humor.
The Layover by HedbangerSA Amongst HeadbangerSA's varied stories , "The Layover" stands out. I am always looking for unusual romantic stories and this one is really different. If you thought that Cinderella couldn't get another twist, this one will surprise you. I love it from the well-plotted beginning to the very satisfying end. Enjoy!
A Little White Lie by Cat5 Between August 2005 and February 2006, Cat5 graced these pages with some of the best romantic love stories ever published. There were only nine of them - all with sky-high ratings. That is SO deserved. "A Little White Lie" is my favourite simply because the plot is so original, but all nine stories shine. Do yourself a favour; read them ALL.
Update July 2020: Cat5 is back. The new stories are very different from the first batch.
The Low Road by Todd_d172 If you only ever read one story on SOL, make sure it is this one.
But believe me: Once you have read it, you will devour every story from Todd_d172.
Martha and the Bard by GToast GToast has written lots of lovely stories. I single "Martha and the Bard" out because I am usually NOT interested in inter-racial stories. In my world love is color-blind, but for those brought up in a narrow bigoted environment, GToast has written a beautiful love story. Read and enjoy this - and then read all the other GToast stores too.
My Anime Girl by sourdough That's how you write the perfect short romance! Not one word too many; not one emotion too few.
My Life With Serena by Jedd Clampett Jedd Clampett writes very varied stories. I am not sure what to make of most of them, but this one is an absolute gem: An extraordinary love story dealing with serious mental illness. You cannot read this story and not be affected; at times you want to scream out in frustration shared with the hero (and he truly is heroic!). You want her to get better; at the end you, like the hero, knows that will not happen - all you want is some stability. And love. A love so overpowering that the frustrations fade to insignificance. Don't miss this one.
Not Guilty by Harddaysknight One of the funniest stories on SOL - I still laugh out loud every time I read it. Many of Harddaysknight's tales are good, but this one tops them all.
The Office Stud by Rod O'Steele Rod O'Steele's stories are full of humor. Some of his story-codes are outside my comfort zone, but not so "The Office Stud". Enjoy!
Pas De Deux by Texrep Texrep has an unusual talent for writing romances where you really feel you know the characters. "Pas De Deux" is particularly sweet. Enjoy!
Pink Hair by Tedbiker I am proud to call Tedbiker my friend. I am a big admirer of his work, and as you will readily find if you read both Ted's and my stories, we move in the same universe and share a lot of values. "Pink Hair" is a representative of his stories; I could as easily have chosen "Zoe" or "The Photo" which I adore. Do yourself a favour - read them all.
PurpleProse1020 by carney22 You won't find a sweeter story than this. Please join in telling carney22 that we need more stories.
Saving Maria by D A Porter D A Porter was a hugely talented writer. "Saving Maria" is a wonderful variation on the old saving-the-damsel-in-distress theme with highly unusual characters in a highly unusual setting.
Silver, Blue & Gold by PennLady "Overdue for a rainbow". Read and enjoy. One of the finest love-stories on these pages!
A Summer by the Lake by qhml1 "A Summer by the Lake" is an amazing romance by an amazing author. I don't know what the letters "qhml1" stand for, but I know what the author "qhml1" stands for: high quality stories. Read them all: When it comes to content, composition, human interest, real situations and characters, you're in for a treat discovering this collection. Enjoy.
Table Talk by Seadog Read and marvel over this amazingly well-told story. Join the chorus asking for a sequel, or praise the story for its brevity; whatever you do: Write Seadog and BEG for more stories!
The Tall Girl by GToast If you don't find this well-told story sweet then there's something SERIOUSLY wrong with you...
The Tutor's Blues by Lubrican How do you pick one Lubrican story??? It is an impossible task. But I adore "The Tutor's Blues" - it is pretty darn well the perfect short story.
